Get Involved

God is passionate about His people. He has been on a mission since the beginning of creation to fill this world with worshipers who will follow Him wholeheartedly and bring Him glory. As we read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, we see God’s global purpose for every tribe, tongue, and nation to know and follow him. Weaved throughout the entirety of scripture, we also see God’s overwhelming heart for the poor, the oppressed, and the suffering in this world. The nations and the poor—this is what His heart beats for, and if we are followers of Him, ours must learn to carry the same beat! These people are central to God’s heart and they must be central to ours. If you are a follower of Christ, you have a role to play in God’s mission to reach the nations. 
 
A trip to Africa or a stateside service project with ELI can be one step in that mission. And we are glad that you are considering it! But we pray that you see it as just that—a step. This is not a checkmark that shows you have fulfilled your service to the nations and the poor. It is a step of obedience to be followed by a lifetime of commitment to God’s global purpose. 

As you prayerfully consider going on a team, interning, joining a project, volunteering your time, or becoming a prayer partner, we pray that this experience will open your eyes and heart to God’s passion for the suffering and lost around the world, and set you on a journey to finding your specific role in the Great Commission.
