In Memory of Jeremy Van Liew

August 13, 2012 by Angela Vincent

For two summers, ELI was blessed to host team member Jeremy Van Liew  in Kenya. Jeremy was from Nuevo California, and attended Nuevo Community Church. This past week we heard the news that  Jeremy went to be with the Lord at age 27 as a result of a brain aneurysm. We were heartbroken to hear the devastating news of his passing, but thankful to know that he is resting with his Savior.

Jeremy came to Kipkaren in both 2006 and 2011 and served with a humble heart and gentle spirit.  In 2006 he helped with the construction of the children’s homes, bricklaying, maintenance on the solar array, painting the children’s homes, and with Vacation Bible School (VBS).  In 2011 he again helped run the VBS program in Kipkaren.

Jeremy loved working with his hands, and was always a favorite of the children in the home as he taught them a wide variety of crafts and projects. Jeremy was the tallest person on the team, and among the kindest and most caring.  Serving in Kenya was very dear to his heart and team member Kim  Smith stated that he “truly loved his time in Kipkaren”.

We invite you to join with us as we pray for the Van Liew family in this hard time. We are so thankful and blessed to know Jeremy, and his legacy of love and care will live on in Kipkaren.
