Our Ministries
ELI’s holistic empowerment strategy engages in projects that address the spiritual, physical, and economic sufferings faced by the people in Africa. Agricultural skills and business knowledge are taught through Skills for Life training centers. The Cheboiywa Health Clinic, in Kipkaren, Kenya, has treated sick patients at affordable rates since 1994. ELI’s HIV/AIDS Community Mobilization project, Tumaini na Afya (Hope and Health), is making incredible progress on creating awareness of the realities of the disease that is crippling the continent. The lives of alcoholics are being transformed through an anti-alcohol project that teaches freedom from bondage through the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Orphans and vulnerable children are being educated through improved schooling, and are learning what is like to grow up in a family through orphanages in both Kenya and Sudan. ELI is training local pastors who have hearts for their communities. Through short-term teams, churches all across the country are learning and taking back lessons about the experiences they have encountered in Africa. Sustainability is built into ELI’s programs by emphasizing on ideas that can be demonstrated and transferred to others. Their ministries target the spiritual, physical, relational, physiological, and economic sufferings faced by the people, and operate with a deep understanding that these factors are intertwined.
