educationKipkaren, Kenya - Brook of Faith

The Brook of Faith Academy in Kipkaren, Kenya was built specifically for the children in the ELI orphanage. The school also reaches out to the neighboring community to offer quality education and to relieve class sizes in local public schools.

Bukavu, Congo – Empowering Lives Christian Academy

In 2002, ELI Congo joined forces with a number of parents and guardians in the Keredi slum of Bukavu to start the ELI Christian Academy. The school is now providing education to over 600 children, many of whom would otherwise have no opportunity to receive an education. The community calls the school a “jewel that dropped from heaven” as it seemed to appear suddenly with its buildings painted white, a huge contrast to the dirt surrounding the school, and continues to bring a new hope to the families living in the slum.

education200-2Kolmarek, Sudan – ELI Christian School

The village of Kolmarek, Sudan is located on the White Nile River and has had no school for over twenty years due to ongoing war and conflict. In 2006, ELI established an elementary school which is now attended by over 200 children. Although the students range in age from 5 to 17, all started with the first grade as this was the first time any of them had attended school. New hope is growing as parents see the love of God demonstrated in action through the school.

Meal Program

ELI is also meeting the physical needs of the students at the Sudan and Congo schools by providing students with one meal each day. This meal program is a real answer to the deep struggles faced daily by these young children and is furthering ELI’s call to holistic ministry among the poor in East Africa.
