Peter Maru

Director of Kipkaren Training Center - Kipkaren, Kenya

God led me to ELI in 1996 when I began helping with casual jobs for the organization. In 1998 I was hired as a full-time gardener. For two years, I taught in the garden and organized a large paper making project. In 2000 I felt a strong calling on my heart to go to Bible College to become a pastor. The challenges I faced during my three years in college were nothing compared to the joy I have received from my new profession. In 2005 I came back to Kipkaren and am now the pastor of a small church in our community. I am also serving as the Spiritual Director for ELI.

My job includes directing things dealing with spiritual life in the training centers and with the staff, both locally and internationally. I am here to stand with any staff member, to pray with them and encourage them. I also work with the HIV/AIDS Home Based Care Team as a counselor and help organize ELI's AIDS awareness compaigns, venturing to new areas to encourage people! My dream is to see God equip people here the way He wants... and I want to see good Christian men and women extending outside this community.
