Derek Ketcham
Director of Stewardship and Alumni Affairs
As
a child I lived in Madagascar where my father did development work, drilling
wells in ‘dry and waterless places’. The experience gave me an early
perspective and heart for this part of the world. Years later my wife and I
would serve as missionaries in the Democratic Republic of Congo before being
evacuated due to the onset of civil war. Seeing first-hand the suffering caused
by poverty, disease, war, and corruption I was thrilled to discover an
organization like ELI that is engaged in effective, holistic ministry. What an honor to be part of a team that seeks
to make a difference in the world. The same is true of those individuals/organizations who partner with us, investing their time, energy, and money for the sake of the Kingdom. They are invaluable resources to the ministry. As Director of Stewardship and Alumni Affairs it is my privilege to cultivate these relationships, not only to express our gratitude, but to facilitate their ongoing engagement in the work, maximize their opportunities to serve, and multiply their impact upon the precious souls in whom they have invested. Furthermore, my role is to spread the vision of ELI, to forge new partnerships, and to strengthen and expand the ministry in a land that is so desperate for the manifest, incarnate, transforming love of God.
