Overview

Welcome back to day 5, our final day together on this virtual journey! As we have learned, God is raising up local leaders all over Africa to partner with Him in the transformative work that is happening every single day. At the heart of that change is the hope only Jesus can bring.

Empowering Lives is not just an organization—it is a way of life inspired by Jesus and cultivated by a global family (including YOU) that prays and serves together. We pray that you have been inspired to crush poverty, embrace Christ, and share your transformation with others throughout your trip this week. You are a special part of the ELI story. Every testimony, healing, and village change is now a part of your legacy from this moment on. We don't want you to miss the opportunity to stay connected to this powerful movement and see firsthand the fruit of your partnership.

Also, you can follow the daily impact of your partnership and join our global community on social media. Click the links to follow: Instagram or Facebook.

If you want to keep up with the amazing movement of God in Africa you can sign up for our email list to receive exciting updates every other week, AND if you are a prayer warrior you can sign up for our Prayer Team to receive a list of prayer requests and praises every other Saturday.

Watch: “Flames of Transformation”

Not everyone is materially poor, but everyone who experiences abject poverty is relationally poor. A material approach to poverty alleviation is the way most NGOs, governments, and churches try to bring transformation to the poor. As we have unpacked this week, handouts do not bring transformation. We hope you have learned that Empowering Lives, like Jesus, uses a relational approach to poverty alleviation. This is why we call you friend and partnerbecause together, we can advance the kingdom of God in enormous ways. Together we can ignite more World Changers. Together we can prevent orphans and provide training for everyone to have a skill and know they are loved by God and born with a purpose to do great things for Him!

Although your virtual trip to Kenya is ending, this doesn’t mean your journey to discovering more about God’s love for His people has to stop. We all have a role to play in the greater story He is writing. We pray that this week has given you a better understanding of Empowering Lives International and the scope of our collective work throughout Africa. It is amazing to see the movement of God that often starts as a spark within the life of one person and then spreads like wildfire. You and I are a flame of transformation!

Reflection Questions: Each one of us has been given the invitation to join God in the work He is doing here at home and all over the world. What might that look like for you? How might God be calling you to be a World Changer right where you are? What might this look like in your homes, schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods?

What Now?

When we built this trip, we envisioned you in our imaginations! We were thinking about your destiny and purpose. Through this trip we wanted to ensure you were educated about Africa and poverty. We also wanted to connect you with our teams and inspire you through their stories of transformation and how they are using their gifts to serve the Lord!

Finally, we curated this trip to activate YOU to be a World Changer RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE. Your destiny as a follower of Jesus is one of great significance. God sees you as a person of purpose! Your past doesn't disqualify you. Your fears can't hold you back. Your education level, job title, or disabilities cannot hinder you. God can and desires to use you to bring His hope, joy, life, truth, and love to the world around you!

We believe and pray that each of you will take your next step of obedience in your discipleship journey with Jesus! Maybe right now you are thinking about how to disciple your kids or share your story of transformation with your coworkers. Maybe you have a book inside you that hasn't been written or a message inside you haven't shared. Maybe God is calling you to provide care to an elderly parent or food to someone on the streets. We want to encourage you to follow Jesus into dark places, obscurity, and even the nations! You will have an opportunity in an important survey to share what you believe following Jesus could look like in this next season. We are praying you can hear His heart and respond to His prompting!

We hope your heart is pulled towards partnering with God and ELI in advancing His Kingdom to the world. In that case we want you to know that your prayers, advocacy, and generosity are vital and have the power to help others experience His transformation in their lives. We hope you enjoy exploring the following links as you join the life-changing journey of empowering lives and Igniting World Changers!!

Challenge of the Day: Share the impact of your experience and say Asante sana to our African team

During the final evening for every team who visits Kenya, there is a time of sharing. Final words are VERY important in Africa. As our African friends express their appreciation for the sacrifices you have made to help and encourage them, they are also attentive to hear from your heart. This means more to them than you can imagine.

Start thinking now about what has impacted you this week. In what ways were you challenged or inspired? Ask the Lord if He has a special word of encouragement He would have you share.

Bonus Challenge: Can I serve you?

Make a list of the people you can serve, or find a way to impact your local community. A lifestyle of following Jesus should always include serving others.
