Help Cover Sharon's Operation

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 9 UPDATE:

On Tuesday, November 9, Sharon, along with her house mom Elizabeth Rotich and Children’s Home director Ezekiel Moiben and wife Noelah, arrived at Tenwek Hospital for her first post-operative check-up with her doctors. It was a very thorough and lengthy process, beginning at 8am and lasting until 1pm. Sharon was a trooper through it all, and the results couldn’t have been better! All the tests showed Sharon’s heart to be healing well, with the replaced valves, repaired veins, and hole closure remaining strong and intact. As Ezekiel expressed after the check-up, “I’m still overwhelmed with what God has done!” Sharon’s next check-up will be on December 9.

We praise God for his healing touch and tender mercies, and for your continued care and prayers for Sharon!

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 8 UPDATE:

The Kipkaren Children's Home family were so happy to welcome Sharon home! They were so thankful to God for healing her!

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 3 UPDATE:

Sharon is home safe and sound! We praise God for this incredible miracle. While she has quite a long road to recovery ahead of her, she's in great spirits and the doctors are AMAZED at her quick progress.

We cannot express our gratitude enough for you. Your prayers, thoughts, care, love, and support have meant more to Sharon than we can imagine. It literally saved her life. She is so encouraged, motivated, and inspired to become the World Changer that God always had in mind for her!

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 26 UPDATE:

God has answered all of our prayers! Sharon’s heart surgery was a success! Sharon’s team of dedicated surgeons and nurses operated for seven hours and are very pleased with the results. Sharon is recovering remarkably well, recognizing her ELI family in the recovery room with her as she came out of anesthesia. Sharon remained in the recovery room for about four hours after surgery under the care of one of her surgeons. Afterward, she was transferred to her hospital room, where she will continue to heal under the care of the hospital staff and her family.

Thank you for all your prayers for Sharon and the love and care you’ve expressed for this precious girl, as well as the financial support we’ve received that has already helped to substantially cover the cost of the surgery. We stand amazed at God’s sovereignty as He provides and orchestrates what Sharon needs, according to His perfect timing and prompting of His spirit in your lives. To God be the glory for the great things He has done!

MONDAY, OCTOBER 25:

Sharon Chelagat at the Kipkaren Children’s Home needs emergency heart surgery! She will undergo the procedure to repair a hole in her heart at 10:00 PM tonight (California time). PLEASE PRAY!

In 2019 Sharon was joyously welcomed to the Kipkaren Children’s Home. Together with her guardians, we recognized that, due to her irregular heartbeat and a heart murmur, her best chance of thriving would come through the care of the larger ELI Family, including you!

From her very first day in the home she has been on medication to manage her condition—medication which let her enjoy a “normal” Kenyan childhood.

However, recently she began to feel increasingly weak. Her breathing was labored and she became easily fatigued. Her parents at the home knew something was not right and sought immediate medical help. On October 13, Sharon was evaluated by doctors, and a CT scan revealed she has a hole in her heart that has opened as she has grown. It needs IMMEDIATE surgical repair.

In God’s perfect timing, a missionary team of  American cardiologists are currently in the Kenya area at the renowned Tenwek Hospital. They have agreed to operate on precious Sharon.

Please pray with all of us, including her house parents, her brothers and sisters at both Homes, and also her biological family members, who are exceedingly grateful for our rallying around this life-saving procedure. We pray for complete healing and restoration of Sharon’s body and for strength and precision to guide the surgical team at Tenwek Hospital.

As always, we thank you for standing together in our collective efforts to empower Sharon and others to become World Changers!
