You can crush poverty and ignite village-wide change.

Generational poverty is a reality for millions in Africa. Motivated by fear, mothers and fathers resort to desperate behaviors and dark businesses to survive. Their self-worth and dignity are stripped away as they watch their children soon follow in their same footsteps.

POVERTY SHOULD NEVER BE AN INHERITANCE
It starts with relationships. Then trust is built. People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. By empowering the people at the bottom and also the top, they meet in the middle and begin to solve the real challenges facing their communities. It's not about being the heroes and saviors. It's about equipping people to take ownership. It's about breaking chains of dependency through training, coaching, and mentoring.

THEY WILL DISCOVER THEIR OWN SOLUTIONS

ELI targets the poorest of the poor in Africa: the school dropout, the orphan with no options, the subsistence farmer, the struggling pastor, the desperate woman who against her own conscience brews and sells an alcohol so dangerous she would never want her own children to touch it.

THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE NOW CRUSHING POVERTY

Your investments are producing greater results and transformation than ever before. Families are sharing their knowledge with neighbors who pay it forward to others. Impoverished small-scale farmers have gained knowledge through training and are now becoming influential forces of transformation in their villages. Illegal brewers are learning new skills and discovering God's love, which is bringing change from the inside out.

ENTIRE VILLAGES ARE EXPERIENCING TRANSFORMATION

"The impact you have is thrice what you are counting because your alumni go out and impact so many more"
- Governor Tolgos (Kenya)

It can be shocking to realize how many millions in our world today are STILL living in abject (one day at a time, hand to mouth) poverty. Countless parents struggle to provide for their children and even die trying – leaving millions of orphaned children behind to survive on their own. This is especially true in parts of East Africa where living in poverty can feel like serving a prison sentence for a crime you didn't commit.

Embrace: The Cause

Where despair is on the rise, people (especially mothers) feel pressed to do unthinkable things in attempts to care for the family. Take illegal alcohol brewing for instance. This addictive, easy to make, and sometimes deadly moonshine is locally called “kill me quick.” Moms who are desperate to love their families actively destroy them by converting their homes into addict-laden “crack houses” filled with some of the worst activities imaginable. They got into the business “just for a few weeks to make some money.” Years and even decades later it’s all their hungry, uneducated, and horrifyingly abused children know. Any future has been choked out of husbands who drink, wives who brew, and children who are the real victims. Imagine the rampant increase of HIV, broken families, domestic violence, crime, idle youth, and the population of orphans.

Poverty is a dark and powerful force but when your care equips people with practical skills and innovative techniques -  a mom, dad, and their children can blaze a new trail out of poverty and lead with an example of self-sustainability and income generation.

Today hope is igniting in unlikely places and entire villages are breaking the chains of generational poverty and leaping toward a radically new place of transformation and development. People are changing from the inside out!

Equipping people to lead and multiply

A movement exists because of rapid multiplication. The only way to launch and sustain exponential impact is through intentional leadership development. Strong, good, and healthy leaders are essential because they bear and cast vision, but that's not all: they also "walk the walk" so others can follow. People will only emulate things that are proven to work. When capable implementers begin to teach, people listen because it's been proven with their lives.

A keen eye must always be on the lookout to identify and hone in on leadership potential. The more time, effort, and energy are spent pouring into leaders instead of followers, the sooner that a tipping point is reached.

A multitude can become aware. A group can be trained. A small selection can be coached. The few with greatest potential can be mentored.

You can only mentor someone who has been coached. You can only coach someone who has been trained. You can only train someone who is aware.

Finally, those who are mentored can then begin the entire process again within their own spheres of influence to widen the reach, spread the impact, and multiply the results. As they do, more and more people begin this multiplication journey. People are excited to dive deeper, and the movement has taken on a life of its own.

The People: Igniting World Changers

When somebody has lifeskills to provide for the needs of himself or herslf, family, and even community they are significantly less dependant on external factors. When that person has a deepening relationship with God a true identity, value-set, and world-view can be created. Finally, if that same person is equipped with communition skills to pass forward what they have learned the impact can grow exponentially. A person who embodies these three attributes is an ELI World Changer.

The Cause: Kenya, DR Congo, Tanzania

Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Togo, Malawi, Zambia, Benin, Burundi, & South Sudan through extension
The majority of East African families living in rural villages generate less than $100 of revenue each month. This small amount of money cannot cover the nutritional, medical, developmental, nor educational needs of the family. It cannot even come close. Discouragement and hopeless lead to despair and resignation.

But when people are equipped with practical skills and innovative techniques a mom, dad, and their children can blaze a new trail and lead by the example of self-sustainbility and income generation.

The Approach: Movements & Multiplication

A movement exists because of rapid multiplication. The only way launch and sustain exponential impact is through intentional leadership develop. Leaders are vision bearers but they must also be vision casters. That said, vision alone is not enough. people will only follow, immulate, and replicate things that are proven to work . . . by capable implementors. Visionary implementors are World Changers.

A keen eye must always be on the lookout to identify and 'hone in on' leadership potential. The more time effort and energy is spent pouring into leaders instead of followers, the sooner that a tipping point and critical mass are experienced.
87% of people are followers
10% of people are destroyers
3% of people are leaders
