When Officer Cyprian (on the left in collage below) walked through the doors of ELI’s detox program, he was one of just 14 police officers bold enough to say, “I need a new chapter.” What he found was more than recovery, it was freedom, fellowship, and a fire that still burns today.

While reflecting on his experience, Cyprian said, “For years, alcohol clouded my vision, but step by step, Jesus Christ’s truth broke through. My journey from addiction to freedom has been full of testimonies and fellowship.”

The greatest part is . . . his transformation didn’t end with him! It ignited a spark in his friend and fellow officer, Martin (on the far right in collage below), who had wrestled with alcoholism for 32 long years. Martin’s addiction shadowed him through years of police service, until alcohol dictated his work, strained his family, and nearly destroyed his future. 

When Martin heard Cyprian’s story, something stirred within him. Though resistant at first, he eventually followed his friend’s lead and joined ELI’s detox and empowerment training. The results were undeniable! His spirit, his outlook, and his relationships were all transformed. 

In Martin’s own words, the change was deeper than just breaking free from alcohol, it was a transformation of his whole life. “For the first time in decades, I experienced true sobriety. Even more, I found Christ. ELI doesn’t just help people leave alcohol; they teach people to follow Jesus.” 

Through ELI training and fellowship, both men discovered not only freedom, but true purpose. Today, Cyprian faithfully cultivates a flourishing kitchen garden, while Martin has embraced farming, growing bananas and caring for a variety of animals with his newfound skills.

Side by side, Cyprian and Martin now share their testimonies, inspiring countless others to step out of darkness and into hope. What began with one courageous officer walking through ELI’s doors has blossomed into a multiplying movement of transformation. None of this would be possible without the prayers and faithful support of people like you! Through God’s guidance and your generosity, lives are restored, families are strengthened, mourning is turned to dancing, and above all, Christ is glorified.
