Stephen Omondi once thrived as a successful businessman in Butula, Kenya. He owned a dry cleaner, a butchery, and even a luxurious hotel that hosted government officials. But when all his ventures collapsed, Stephen’s life spiraled into a five-year drinking spree that cost him his marriage, his property, and his dignity.

Darkness had overtaken everything . . . until July 2025 when Stephen encountered Empowering Lives International! Guided by mentorship, detox training, and faith in God, he began a journey of restoration. Slowly, his life was rebuilt: he started a thriving kale farm, overcame addiction, began earning a God-honoring income, and now mentors five others who are struggling with alcohol.

The influence of his transformation continues to grow. Stephen now dedicates his harvests as first fruits at church, sharing his restored life as a living testimony! He prays daily, lives by the principle, “A hand that gives is more blessed than the one that receives,” and aspires to grow his farm to serve others to an even greater capacity.

His story is a powerful example of light piercing the darkness. Through faith, determination, and the support of his ELI family, he turned ashes into beauty—restoring not only himself but also inspiring his community to believe in hope, redemption, and transformation.
