Bishop Jacob Chebii
The story of a young boy offering five loaves and two fish demonstrates the Lord’s ability to use what we offer and make a positive impact to glorify Him. Your offerings to the Lord through giving and prayer have again glorified Him through Bishop Jacob Chebii, who has adopted the ELI way; inspiring change amongst brewers and alcoholics in Chepkorio, Kenya!
Partnering with pastors is a primary focus for ELI’s training teams, as we understand that change cannot be sustained in a community without a strong influence from the local church. In addition to providing support for many chiefs and elders, we are increasing training for church leaders and ministers of the gospel. And now, Bishop Chebii is working alongside ELI to engage with the broken and be a part of village-wide change.
The Bishop began simply through door-to-door evangelism, connecting with the community through love and acceptance and opening their hearts to transformation. Then, he began to meet regularly with brewers and alcoholics who were curious about this transformation and wanted to experience it for themselves. The response was overwhelming, and the group quickly grew by large numbers!
Not only has the Bishop’s ministry disrupted local brewing and alcoholism, but it has generated God-honoring income, transformed lives, and brought light into a community that was once filled with darkness. This profound change has even inspired 6 additional pastors to embrace the ELI way and become “Pastors of Change,” committed to being beacons of hope in their congregations.
We cannot transform people, but our Lord can—and uses us to do so. In Chepkorio, Bishop Chebii has seen families reunited, relationships restored, addictions erased, and the light of the Lord shining brilliantly. Because of your faithful prayers and support, we are able to continue the work of collaborating and training together! As we do so, we are convinced the love and power of God will replace the strongholds of darkness, alcoholism, and hopelessness—one life and one family at a time.
