There is great reward when we embrace others in need and equip them with skills (not handouts) so that dignity and sustainability can be passed on to others!
Without an investment there can be no return. From prayer to a variety of caring actions, the door to make a difference is open for you, your family, and your friends.
I will crush poverty with HOPE!
Your network is a powerful tool! Explore the incredible difference you can make when you advance the cause through your office, church, small group, VBS, school, clubs, business, alumni networks, family, the web, social media, and more.
Embracing the Approach
When you're resigned, isolated, and afraid, you have almost no hope. You need a win! You need to try something that does not require significant time or capital investment. BUT IT NEEDS TO WORK. So start with things you already have but look at them in new ways. Think outside the box!
Rekindling hope is not about an overnight solution. Small wins lead to big wins. Equipping people to think differently is a key first step. Wood that is soaking wet needs to dry out. Then once it is dry, it can catch a spark. Through an intentional process even the smallest ember can be fanned into the hottest flame if it is cared for across all four forms of poverty.
Training: Equipping people to implement dynamic and practical tools. Instilling disciplines for success. Asking questions instead of giving answers to stimulate critical thinking.
Coaching: Journeying with people as they begin to experience success and encouraging them in their struggles as they grow and learn. Fostering a culture of continuous and lifelong learning. Incorporating accountability for the disciplines learned from training. Asking more questions, giving fewer answers.
Mentoring: Committing to walk alongside someone for a long period of time to champion their success. Relating at deep levels across all spans of life.
Equipping people to lead and multiply
A movement exists because of rapid multiplication. The only way to launch and sustain exponential impact is through intentional leadership development. Strong, good, and healthy leaders are essential because they bear and cast vision, but that's not all: they also "walk the walk" so others can follow. People will only emulate things that are proven to work. When capable implementers begin to teach, people listen because it's been proven with their lives.
