ELI is officially 25 years old!

March 31st, 2020 marked the day of ELI's silver anniversary. For 25 years partners like you have sacrificed to make this world a better place by restoring broken lives and empowering them to change their worlds. This movement began with a few small projects in rural Tanzania. These days the training centers, children's homes, and school walls can no longer contain the ever-expanding influence that our combined efforts are having in East Africa.

The vision that God put on the hearts of a few, to put His love in action and help the poor, now spans a growing number of countries in Africa. Thousands are now crushing poverty and it's friends like you who are fueling this life-changing movement.

During the next six months stay tuned in to read, hear, and see many dynamic stories that will encourage your life. Together we will celebrate the faithfulness of God and embrace the special vision being revealed for the future. Each month from April through September, we will highlight a five-year period of ELI's journey to inspire your heart.

Every story has a beginning that shapes the future. This season generated powerful experiences and stories full of God’s fingerprints that pointed the way for Empowering Lives International to begin. The rest is history.

Explore '86-'94

ELI is just a baby as an organization with few involved, but here the foundations were laid and relationships formed that would influence the ministry for the next two decades.

Explore '95-'99

The unique approach that Empowering Lives developed would be recognized not only by the people of Kenya but visiting leaders from surrounding countries. During this season, ELI prayerfully discerned God’s guidance and leadership in order to step in faith through huge doors of new opportunity as the work expanded in scope and geographically.

Children make up almost half of the population in East Africa. The journey now included 200 new children who were adopted into the ministry family, and new relationships between children and sponsors began to change all of our lives for the better.

The ministry struggles at first to keep up with the growing children and growing opportunities but eventually finds new footing as the Women of Change ministry takes everyone by surprise. ELI trainers move beyond borders to impact greater numbers than ever seen before.

With two decades of lessons gained and increasing relationships among staff and communities growing, ELI moves into a greater season of strategic ministry and Spirit-led multiplication. This is an ongoing season that we celebrate to this day and feel humbled to be a part of. God is on the move – igniting world changers!
