Hellen Barngetuny

Hellen Barngetuny was welcomed into our Ilula Children’s Home in 2004 after the loss of her mother and a difficult season of instability for her family. There, she found a loving home, holistic care, consistent encouragement, and the opportunity to pursue an education while growing in her faith and confidence every step of the way! 

Throughout her years in the Children’s Home, Hellen was known for being hardworking, humble, and dependable. From an early age, she was an especially enthusiastic student who loved learning and remained committed to building a brighter future for herself and her community. With the support of her sponsors, house parents, and ELI family, Hellen carried this determination with her as she continued her studies and eventually earned her Bachelor of Economics degree in 2021. 

Today, Hellen is making a remarkable impact through her work with the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) in Eldoret, where she oversees student internships and helps prepare young people for the workforce. More than 2,000 students have already benefited from her mentorship and support! 

Her work now reaches across seven counties and more than 1,000 institutions as she helps these students gain opportunities, confidence, and hope for their futures. Reflecting on her journey, Hellen shares, “The woman I am today is because of ELI.” 

Hellen’s story is a beautiful reminder that when children are given love, opportunity, and support, they can grow into leaders who go on to impact countless others. Thank you for empowering lives with us!
