Child Spotlight

Kelvin Kipkirui

Kelvin Kipkirui Kosgei was born in Kapskin, Kenya, where his powerful story was set in motion. Though his life began with the heartache of losing his parents at just two months old, leaving him in the shadow of abandonment, God’s light broke through and his life was eventually overwhelmed by hope!

In 2004, Empowering Lives International was able to welcome Kelvin and his two sisters into the Ilula Children’s Home, providing not just a roof over their heads, but a new beginning. Kelvin shared, “That’s where love found me, where broken pieces started forming a masterpiece.”

As he adjusted to his new home and began to really dream of his future, Kelvin imagined becoming a teacher. This bold dream soon matured into a divine call: to become a shepherd of souls! His leadership was evident early. Known as “Bishop” in high school and university, Kelvin was truly purpose-driven. This led him to pursue and obtain a degree in psychology, walking confidently into his God-given destiny.

After college graduation, his passion only grew! He eventually landed a position as a psychologist and a hospital chaplain, bringing not only professional care, but spiritual strength to everyone he encountered. His presence became a source of peace in the lives of patients facing their hardest days. To this day, every word he speaks is laced with conviction, and every action is deeply rooted in compassion.

He said, “From an orphaned child to a ministering psychologist, I’m living proof of what God can do!”

As Isaiah 61:3 declares, God exchanged Kelvin’s ashes for beauty, his mourning for joy, and turned his tears into testimony! Your support of ELI’s Children’s Homes is transforming stories of loss into stories of faith and leadership, raising up the next generation to impact communities for Christ. Thank you for helping turn mourning into dancing for Kelvin and so many others.
